A person qualifying under this class must have relevant experience, the intention and ability to be self-employed in Canada, and must make a significant contribution to specified economic activities in Canada. Relevant experience could be self-employment in cultural activities or athletics, participation at a world-class level in cultural activities or athletics, or farm management experience. The experience has to be proven for at least two years within the last five years.

The specified economic activities means cultural activities, athletics, or the purchase AND management of a farm. There is no minimum net worth requested, however, the phrase ‘intention and ability’ also includes the financial means. There should be sufficient funds available to establish a self-employed activity or buy a farm.
